SACRAMENTO, Calif. (January 21, 2007) – 2005 PBR World Champion Justin McBride (Elk City, Okla.) treated Sacramento fans to an electrifying win when he captured top honors of the Sacramento Classic presented by Capitol Yamaha. In what was a hard fought battle, McBride earned the event title and $29,309 by just three quarters of one point over 2004 PBR World Champion Mike Lee (Decatur, Texas). Stop number four on the Professional Bull Riders’ (PBR) Built Ford Tough Series presented by Wrangler (BFTS) took place on Jan 20-21 at ARCO Arena and played before over 18,000 fans.

When asked how he feels about having his first event title of 2007 under his belt, McBride said, “I had a less than perfect World Finals, so I’ve been ready to get started again in 2007. It feels great to get this season kicked off right.”
McBride won three regular season events and more than $232,000 during 2006 and ended the season ranked sixth in the PBR World standings. He has accumulated $3,119,538 in PBR career earnings to date.
Lee held down the number one position as Built Ford Tough Championship Round action in Sacramento got underway. He achieved 87.5 points aboard Flying U/Moreno Bucking Bulls’ Werewolf Snuff, but had to settle for second after what proved to be a short round abundant in 90-plus point rides. When McBride topped Naccarato Bucking Bulls’ All In for 90.5 points on his way to a cumulative score of 264.25, the victory was his.

Dustin Hall (Springfield, Mo.) matched Gene Owen Bucking Bulls’ Team Equine’s Cow Pix to post 90.75 points, achieving both the high score of the championship round and of the event. Hall finished fourth overall.

Lee’s strong showing in Sacramento enabled him to overtake J.B. Mauney (Mooresville, N.C) for the lead in the BFTS World Standings with 2,343 series points. Mauney, the 2006 PBR Daisy Rookie of the Year, trails by 172.5 points.
