No. 10 Valvoline/Stanley Tools Dodge Avenger Race Facts

Goody’s Cool Orange 500 — Martinsville Speedway

Driver:                  Scott Riggs

Team Director:    Rodney Childers

Car Director:       Brad Fritts

Engineer:             Kevin Kidd

Team/Owner:       Valvoline Evernham Racing

Designated team owner, Jim Rocco

Chassis:               No. 210

Info:                      Brand new COT chassis.

SCOTT RIGGS QUOTES:

“This weekend we will have to have a strong qualifying effort in order to make the race on time. But you need to do that regardless at Martinsville, for good pit selection and track position. Leading into this event, we have done some testing with our Valvoline/Stanley Tools Dodge to get the brake package right. Last weekend we made a lot of calculated adjustments to get the new Car of Tomorrow stable and help it roll through the center of the turns. Its center of gravity is a little bit higher than the Charger and that gives it a tendency to be loose on entry and tight in the center.

“After our cut tire last weekend we have been wondering ‘how long can this bad luck keep up?’. We have been running strong, had good cars, and been doing all the right things we just haven’t been able to finish the deal off for one reason or another. We feel good about our chances of getting our season turned around starting this weekend.”

 QUICK FACTS:

  • Riggs has had good results on the treacherous half-mile circuit at Martinsville. He posted his first NASCAR victory there in the Craftsman Truck Series in 2001.
  • Martinsville was also the site of Riggs’s first Nextel Cup career pole in the spring of 2005.
  • His average start at the short track in Martinsville is 12.3.

  • Riggs has completed an impressive 99.6 percent of laps run at Martinsville during his six career starts there.

No. 9 Dodge Dealers/UAW Dodge Avenger Race Facts

Goody’s Cool Orange 500 — Martinsville Speedway

Driver: Kasey Kahne

Team Director: Kenny Francis

Car Director: Rich Hubbs

Engineer: Keith Rodden

Team Owner: Ray Evernham

Chassis: No. 209

Info: Brand new chassis.

KASEY KAHNE QUOTES:

“We had a great race car at Bristol, the most competitive car I’ve had there. There’s nothing you can do about a flat tire. Our Dodge Avenger was definitely a top-10 car, probably a top five. I’m disappointed with the finish, but not the performance of the No. 9 Dodge Dealers/UAW Dodge Avenger at the first COT race.

“I enjoy racing at Martinsville. Kenny (Francis, team director) has given me very competitive race cars in the past. I don’t think we will see a big difference in that performance level with the COT. I don’t know how much of what we learned at Bristol will transfer to the setup at Martinsville, but the effort by everyone at Evernham Motorsports on the COT will continue to pay off for all three teams.”

KAHNE’S PICK TO WIN THE NCAA CHAMPIONSHIP: OHIO STATE

“Before the tournament, I picked Ohio State and Florida to make it to the Final Four with the Buckeyes winning the championship. I’m not changing my prediction now”.

QUICK FACTS

  • Kahne and the No. 9 Dodge Dealers/UAW team proved resilient last week at Bristol and salvaged a finish that propelled them back into the top 35 in owner’s points.
  • Kahne has two top-10s at the half-mile shortrack in Martinsville. His best finish of second came in the spring of 2005.
  • In his six career starts at Martinsville, Kahne has acquired just a single DNF.
  • Kahne’s best starting spot at Martinsville came in the spring race in 2006 when he started fifth.
  • Kahne’s average finish is 15.8 at Martinsville.

FOR THE CHAMPIONS OF CAMPGROUND CUISINE

TUMS Racing Searching for the Most TUMSworthy Tailgate Temptations

PITTSBURGH (March 28, 2007) – TUMS Racing is looking to pit the best chef of the speedway, against the grill master of the grandstands and the culinary expert of the campgrounds. The winners will take home bragging rights and the top titles in the TUMS Diner Delights cookoff at Texas Motor Speedway.

On Saturday, April 14, 2007, TUMS will hold the Diner Delights cookoff with an all-star judging panel at the TUMS “Dinermobile” located in the Fan Concourse area (exact location) searching for the dining delights of the race track that make the weekend unique. Fans are encouraged to bring their best race track specialty that wows their friends, amazes their families and attracts perfect strangers to their campsites. TUMS knows that race weekends are full of food, fun and fast action that can sometimes lead to heartburn and indigestion. But with TUMS, there’s no need to pack it up and go home Just “pit” for a little fast relief at the “Dinermobile” exhibit in the fan concourse area and continue enjoying the weekend.

TUMS is celebrating the art and science of campground cuisine in honor of their primary sponsorship of the No. 41 TUMS Dodge Charger for Reed Sorenson in the race at Texas on Sunday, April 15, 2007.

“It’s always amazing to see what race fans are cooking at the campgrounds,” said Reed Sorenson, who will greet the winners of the TUMS Diner Delights cookoff during a pit tour on Sunday morning. “I grew up around race tracks and I’ve had my fair share of track cuisine, so I’m anxious to see what the fans at Texas Motor Speedway have in store. I’m sure the winning dishes will all be TUMS worthy.”

Preliminary judging runs from 11 a.m. to Noon on Saturday, April 14th, with the final round of judging immediately following from Noon to 12:30 p.m. The all-star panel of judges will rate the dishes and score them on:

· Taste

· Originality

· Preparation

· Appearance

· Creativity

Three semi-finalists will be selected in each of the three categories:

· Hottest Heartburn – Serve up your spiciest sensations. There will be plenty of TUMS on hand to provide fast relief

· Most Likely to Inspire Indigestion – Go ahead and indulge. Fat-free, skinny diet dishes need not apply

· Most TUMS Worthy – Use your imagination and tempt the judges’ taste buds in this “anything goes” category

Then, the judges will select the top dish in each category.

The category winners in the TUMS Diner Delights Cookoff will each win a TUMS pit tour for two on Sunday morning and a TUMS Diner Delights trophy. The nine semi-finalists will take home a TUMS t-shirt and a TUMS Racing flag. All participants will receive a TUMS hat and TUMS gift pack.

The contest is open to all fans attending the race at Texas Motor Speedway who are over the age of 18. There is no cost to enter the contest. For complete rules, please visit http://www.TUMSracing.com.

“A weekend at the track is all about food, fun and fast action, and we want to celebrate that with the fans at Texas Motor Speedway,” said Bill Kollitz, TUMS Brand Manager, GlaxoSmithKline Consumer Healthcare. “We look forward to the great dishes competing in the TUMS Diner Delights cookoff and to crowning our champions as the top chefs of the speedway.”

A complete list of winners and their championship recipes will be available following the event at http://www.TUMSracing.com.
