BILLINGS, Mont. (April 22, 2007) – The Professional Bull Riders’ (PBR) Built Ford Tough Series presented by Wrangler (BFTS) made its sixteenth tour stop in Billings, Mont. April 20-22, 2007, at the MetraPark Arena. J.B. Mauney, (Mooresville, N.C.) rode his consistency all the way to the pay window to the tune of $28,295 dollars and 860 coveted BFTS points. Mauney, who is currently holding down the number two position in the BFTS standings, is the 12th athlete to be named event champion at the NILE Invitational, which is the oldest consecutive PBR tour stop. Mauney has accumulated three tour titles thus far in 2007 – an accomplishment that has him within 674.25 points of current BFTS leader Justin McBride (Elk City, Okla.)

Montana native Beau Hill (Columbia Falls, Mont.) thrilled Billings fans with three stellar rides throughout the weekend, which earned him first position going into the Built Ford Tough Championship round. Hill bucked off a mere .2 seconds short on Vertical Limit of Chad Berger/Dakota Cattle Co. which ultimately landed him in seventh place overall.

The championship concluded with young superstar Mauney standing in the winner’s circle. Mauney rode all four of the bulls he attempted this weekend in Billings. Three preliminary scores had Mauney sitting in second place, going into the championship round. True to his form, Mauney capped off by making it look easy on the back of Okeechobee Spots of Diamond S Bucking Bulls. The 89.75 performance was enough to secure the event title.

When asked about his goals for 2007, Mauney replied, “I am just trying to win the World (PBR World Championship) this year, and trying to close the gap between me and Justin (McBride). Justin doesn’t fall off a whole lot, so I have to ride all of my bulls and do my best to stay consistent.”

With $372,571 in PBR career earnings in 2007, Mauney is currently riding an astonishing 72 percent of his bulls and is on pace to continue challenging McBride for the number one position and ultimately, for the million dollar PBR World Title. In just his second season on the elite BFTS tour, Mauney has displayed unprecedented composure and consistency, chalking up six top five finishes in 2007.

Don’t miss one second of the action as the battle for the PBR world title continues to rage. Catch them and the rest of the PBR Stars next weekend in Nampa, Idaho on VERSUS. Please visit http://www.pbrnow.com/ for an updated TV schedule or check your local listings for additional details.
